Quality Control Responsibilities
Welding QC Engineers will oversee welding quality activities and help ensure that installation work complies with applicable technical standards, inspection requirements, and project specifications. Mechanical QC Engineers will support quality management for equipment installation, including major combined-cycle plant equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, and heat recovery steam generators. Electrical & Instrument QC Engineers will focus on quality management for electrical and instrumentation or thermal-control equipment systems. Across all three disciplines, engineers will coordinate inspections, monitor installation quality, review relevant documentation, and support compliance throughout project execution.
Technical Qualifications and Experience
The Welding QC Engineer position requires an international inspector certification, specifically CSWIP 3.1 or 3.2, along with familiarity with ASME, AWS, and other applicable standards and regulations. More than five years of experience is required, with power plant welding quality-management experience and combined-cycle project experience preferred. Mechanical QC Engineers should be familiar with ASME, AWS, and relevant regulations and have experience managing equipment installation quality, particularly GT, ST, and HRSG systems. Electrical & Instrument QC Engineers should have experience in power plant electrical and thermal-control equipment installation and quality management, with combined-cycle experience preferred.
Combined-Cycle Power Plant Environment
Combined-cycle power plants require coordinated quality management across mechanical, welding, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines. Major equipment such as gas turbines, steam turbines, and HRSG units involves detailed installation, inspection, alignment, documentation, and quality-control procedures. QC Engineers work alongside construction teams, specialist contractors, inspectors, and project management to identify deviations and maintain compliance with approved standards and specifications. The multidisciplinary nature of the project makes coordination between welding, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams an important part of successful installation and commissioning activities.
